There are quite a lot of problems that makes it unpractical. This is mainly Nokia never ceases to amaze its fans, mobilephone enthusiasts and every eager user itching to have a mobilephone.
This is the new Nokia N900. It's quite surprising as they had just launched the Nokia N97 Mini and now this baby comes in. The Nokia N900 is expected to have better and powerful features than the N97 and it is.
The Nokia N900, just like the N95 when it was released, has the best new features that are currently available for mobilephones. It’s a feature packed phone and to further see what it can do, here are the details for this hot new touchscreen phone.
Highlight features
The Nokia N900 boast its Maemo 5 Operating System, Maemo Browser, GPS Navigation, A GPS Receiver and Ovi Maps. These are powerful features that make Satellite Navigation more fun, creative and efficient for users and developers.
The Maemo OS is simply a platform made by Nokia. It’s an open source model enabling different developers to take advantage of the platform and create their own applications/programs or new features with it. This also means that it’s an efficient OS that will probably make the N900 faster and better to perform as it runs on its native platform.
The Nokia N900 also boasts its Ovi Maps, coupled with GPS Navigation and with A GPS Receiver, it’s an awesome Navigator. Ovi maps are amazing – it has detailed information on every bit of it. It can show you road maps, train maps and it also shows 3D representation of famous landmarks. It’s an amazing feature which works great with the Nokia N900 – it’s just so easy to look right into your mobilephone and browser and of course the 3D view.

The Nokia N900 has a simple design and pretty details. It has a rather bulky body that is 110.9 x 59.8 x 18 mm size and weighs 181 grams. There are a lot of advanced research discovering and implementing new ideas. One of which is the controversial, Suprego Contact Lens. This is just a theory/idea (so it's not yet available... well, maybe soon if someone is going to be serious about this idea) and it's still just a science fiction, it's a contact lens which gives you access to every information you want to get, all in this contact lens.
It's made up of a state of the art nanocamera, an incredibly fast computer chip loaded with A.I. software and an Organic Light Emmiting Diode display, are all encapsulated within the ultra small SuprEgo contact lens. What this does is that it is able to connect you to an advanced GPS navigation. As a Smartphone user, you know how useful this is. The SuprEgo will record and monitor your life, of what use this will be, I do not know.
Here is a video
This is just a visual project made by Markos Christodoulou, a Graphic Designer. The idea is great and creative. Quite an unbelievable and not serious kind of idea, this sparked some futuristic ideas that we may be having in the near future.
This may just be an out of this world idea but we do have a similar technology available today using Smartphones. That would be Augmented Reality Technology. It's also a stuff of science fiction where we see graphic designs/images, information being augmented into real time footage. This technology uses the camera of your Smartphone and the technology uses the footage identifying the objects and displays the images and information you need. At the moment, there are now games which uses this kind of technology like Kweekies, Dart the Dog, EyePet and so on.
Currently, you can only enjoy these new and fun technology on Smartphones, PS3, Xbox 360, and on the Nintendo Wii. Although, most of the games aren't out yet, expect them to be on the market in the 4th quarter of 2009. You can find cheap mobile phone offers with free gifts online if you're interested in getting one. The gifts can be a free PS3 or a Laptop or an iPhone 3G S. They do offer a greater discount than the ones on the high streets.
Design:
True to the promise of portability, the phone, with its 108 g weight and 101.5 x 51 x 16.8 mm size, never becomes a bother. Yet, as small as it is, the 2.4 Inch TFT 262k Colour Screen (240 x 320 Pixels) would never make viewing difficult and the QWERTY Keyboard just slides in and out at your convenience whenever you want it and wherever you intend to use it. However, as to the question if the phone’s design would fit people of all ages, a yes may be heard from younger users and a questionable look may be seen from the grown-ups, considering that the phone might just be too small for adults to use. Thus, if you have a bog anatomical structure, you might find it a little bit troublesome to do some navigating with the phone.
Camera:
The camera is not the LG KS360’s strongest features. With only a 2 Megapixel Camera, it does not promise strong imaging. Aside from that, it has fixed focus and no camera auto focus, so it is not really that versatile when it comes to photo focusing. Though it is capable of video recording (MPEG4 & H263), its video recording resolution is also not that powerful because it is only fit for MMS. Thus, if you are actually shopping for a camera phone, you better exclude LG KS360 from your list because it will only fail you big time.
Multimedia:
LG KS360 can play MP3, AAC, AAC+ and eAAC+. Thus, its capacity to play music files is not that limited. Also, it has MP3 ring tones and can play up to 64 voices in polyphonic ring tones. Not bad really for a phone that is designed to be more powerful in terms of messaging finesse. The phone also allows you to store voice messages and is also capable of editing videos and audio files. Access to radios is also available, thus you will never run out of options for music. One fun thing about the phone is when the bass is set high, it makes the phone shake! One bad thing about the music is with downloaded sound files. When playing these files, you always need to set the volume high so that you can hear them and the sound would sometimes come out distorted. The phone also offers Java ran games so if you are tired of hearing music and you still got a long boredom to endure, you can always use the LG KS360 for your convenience.
Calling and messaging:
One of the best features of this phone is its SMS thread messaging that allows you to see the flow of SMS received and sent – thus keeping track of the whole conversation becomes possible. Aside from this, the phone is also capable of MMS (Multimedia Messaging. The downside for its messaging is the keyboard itself. The last thing you would use to describe how to use the LG KS360’s keyboard is easy. Since the buttons were more for the aesthetics rather than use, it is quite difficult to make use of the QWERTY keyboard. As for the calls, they work out well and do not have any delays during conversations, something you particularly require to make your calling a breeze.
Internet and connectivity features:
Another of the phone’s downside is its Internet and connectivity features, especially with the most commonly used IM messaging – from yahoo messenger, Google Talk, AIM, MSN and also ICQ. The problem with the chatting is the fact that since the phone is not 3G, the chatting come slow. So if you intend to send messages, don’t rely on the phones Internet based chatting. Just use the phone’s other features for messaging. It could have been better if the phone has 3G and is capable of WiFi connectivity. The phone does have USB, EDGE, Bluetooth and GPRS.
Memory and battery:
The phone’s internal memory is 15 MB but is expandable through microSD. Most reviews would say that the memory is expandable upto 4gb, but other users have said that they could expand it up to 8GB. Also, the stand by battery time is 440 hours and 5 hours talk time, both of which are decent battery life spans fit for average users. If you are the kind of person who would want to get more battery life than that, it’s either you get another set of batteries or better yet, just choose a phone that has a longer battery life.
The LG KS360 is indeed a great phone if style is your thing. It offers decent features that will entertain you and has great communication features too. If you want to cut back some cost, it's a good idea to get discounts online through a free T-mobile line rental offers. You can even get a cheap LG KS360 contract deal off the net easily, just look on trusted websites and spend some time comparing.
Touchscreen madness just became crazier... and cheaper! The Samsung F480 Tocco had all the hype and makes people wanting to have one. Since the demand was high and people wished something even better, they made the Samsung Tocco Ultra. However, this of course, isn't budget friendly. You can however get a cheap Samsung Tocco S7350 Ultra contract deal online. These deals offer big discounts in which you can easily take advantage given that you remember your end of the deal.
Anyway, if the Samsung Tocco S7350 Ultra is too much for you then you'd be very delighted to know that Samsung released another version of the Samsung Tocco... a cheaper version. The Samsung S5230 Tocco Lite!
The name says it all. It's got the looks (and probably better) with the same software goodness and a little bit lower on hardware features. To summarize it, its the Samsung Tocco made cheaper and more practical. You can easily find a free Samsung S5230 Tocco Lite mobilephone contract deal on the Internet. Anyway, If you want to know the details, please read further...
Design:
The Samsung Tocco Lite has almost the same design but with better aesthetics and made sleeker than the original. The casing looks elegant in sleek black, it has 104 x 53 x 11.9 mm size and weighs only 93.5 grams, a slim phone making it easy to keep and hold. It has a typical touchscreen design where its clear 3 Inch 262k colour touch screen occupies the whole front panel. The screen displays in 240 x 400 pixels resolution, this displays detailed images and vibrant colors. Its big and its a touch screen, you can navigate the screen to access the menu or controls. User interface is plain and straight formward but it might need the user a little getting used to. If you're new to touch screen technology, don't worry much because it has a stylus and it has Handwriting recognition to help type messages easily.
Communication:
Calling with the Samsung Tocco Lite is very convenient and efficient. It has Quad Band frequency, utilizing GSM 850, GSM 900, GMS 1800 and GSM 1900 frequencies to get good signals even when traveling. Having more than one frequency in one device is useful to enable roaming between different countries that peg the allowed transmission frequency at different values or to allow a better coverage in the same country. This basically means that you will have good connection when calling anywhere in the world and if you're inside a good coverage you can easily enjoy an uninterrupted call. It has Video Call capability; it’s not as good as its predecessor but good enough for virtual face to face communication.
Camera:
Derived from its original predecessor, the Samsung Tocco Lite only has a 3 megapixel camera. It’s got a flash equipped, Auto Focus, Smile Detection and nothing fancy after that. The Samsung S5230 Tocco Lite isn’t much of a camera phone but it’s certainly enough to get the job done. The camera takes pretty good pictures though even with a low megapixel compared to other touchscreen phones with cameras. Pictures taken are clear and detailed, passable for a causal use. The lack of megapixel isn't such a let down since it’s a somewhat “practical phone” for a user who wants to have a touchscreen and still save money.
Multimedia:
Music experience on the Samsung Tocco Lite will keep you from being bored. It has a nice Music Player, good performance in amplifying it making good quality audio. The music player is compatible with most music files used today like MP3, AAC and WMA. The phone has an FM Radio with RDS for viewing information. You'd probably like to have this phone as your music player as it efficiently sorts and stores your downloaded songs. You can also easily hook up a Wireless headset as it has Bluetooth A2DP support.
You can watch Videos with leisure because it has MPEG4, H263 and H264 plus its beautiful screen.
Memory:
Memory is decent but you still need a MicroSD memory card to be able to save files up to 8GB of video, picture and data files. Its raw memory is only 50MB.
Connectivity:
Transferring files from your PC or any other device is easier in the Tocco Lite. It has support on the most common technologies used to have the most convenient file transfer, the USB and Bluetooth technology.
The Samsung S5230 Tocco Lite is just like it’s predecessors in terms of Internet connectivity. It has GPRS and EDGE, fast and efficient. It also has WAP 2.0, XHTML and HTML Browser for you to use when browsing and since it’s a touchscreen phone, its convenient and easy to navigate the browser, feels like a desktop browser.
Battery:
This is where the Samsung S5230 Tocco Lite kick hard arse, harder than its uncle Samsung F480 Tocco. It has a whooping 8 hours of talk time or 350 hours if standby. This is definitely a big advantage as the F80 Tocco can only last up to 3 hours talk time, it’s a big leap and definitely good news.
